How much legal experience does Nichon Shannon have?

Nichon has been practicing law since 2000. She is licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi. Nichon has practiced as an Assistant Attorney General, a Hearing Officer, Assistant District Attorney, a private practitioner and as In-House Counsel at a small corporation. Due to these varied legal experiences over 20 years, Nichon is able to provide clients with excellent counsel and guidance on a wide variety of legal topics.

What kind of legal problems can nichon help me with?

Nichon has had extensive experience in divorce, child support, Wills and health care issues (to include Medicare/Medicaid eligibility and the Affordable Care Act). Other legal issues that can be addressed include car accidents, personal injury, wrongful death, minor traffic and misdemeanor issues.

Are consultation times enforced? What if I need to cancel?

Yes. There is a hard stop at the end of 30 minutes and 60 minutes because other clients have been scheduled and it is important to respect everyone’s time. Therefore, please do not “under book” time so that your consultation does not abruptly end without your issues being fully addressed. For cancellations I ask that you provide 24 hours notice so that another client can book that time slot. You can reschedule or cancel your own appointment via the website. If necessary, please call 615.596.3132 regarding appointment issues.

Are your fees competitive? Why aren’t your consultations free like some other attorneys?

Attorneys’ hourly fees in a metropolitan area like Nashville are typically $200.00/hr and up depending on their specialty (some attorney rates are $350/hr and up). Generally, personal injury attorneys provide “free consultations” as a way to evaluate your case to see if they want to accept it on a contingency fee (they don’t get paid unless you get paid). All other types of attorneys, i.e. criminal defense, wills, divorce, and child support & custody (family law), and general civil attorneys charge an hourly rate or some fixed amount to both consult with you and represent you. The fees offered by Shannon Legal Plus are highly competitive and they are actually set at an amount that is affordable for most families so that more people can have access to quality legal services. These are fees set for the working class.

Can Nichon help me if I’m in a state other than Tennessee or Mississippi?

Unfortunately, Nichon can only provide legal advice to residents of Tennessee and Mississippi or to individuals with legal issues in Tennessee or Mississippi.

What can I expect during my consultation session?

The goal of each consultation is to provide you with legal information and perhaps solutions or options to help resolve your situation. While no guarantees can be made regarding outcomes, you will be empowered with knowledge, resources and guidance to help you manage and begin to resolve your problem. Nichon will provide you with clear, honest and candid advice.

What should I bring to the consultation?

Please bring all documents, photographs, charts, emails, text messages, etc. that are relevant to your legal issue so that Nichon can have the whole picture when advising you. Be prepared to discuss dates, times, places, etc. so bring a calendar if you have one or bring a journal if you keep one. In order for this to be productive and efficient, please come prepared with everything related to your legal matter. I want to make sure that you get excellent service so if you are unsure as to what to bring, please email nichon@shannonlegalplus.com and ask for assistance.

how can i have a consultation considering the restrictions in place due to covid-19?

Facetime, WhatsApp, Duo and Hangout is also an option if you are comfortable with those platforms. Additionally, you can have a traditional telephone conference if appropriate.
